This comprehensive program spans 80 guided learning hours, during which we are dedicated to equipping you with the skills that top employers are seeking in the dynamic field of electrical renewables.

  • LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Installation and Commissioning of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment in Domestic, Commercial, and Industrial locations.

  • LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Design Installation and Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems

  • LCL Awards Level 3 Award In the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems

This regulated qualification is for those wishing to achieve a nationally recognised qualification in the Installation and Commissioning of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment in Domestic, Commercial, and Industrial locations.

The qualification has been designed in conjunction with the latest IET Code of Practice.

This qualification has been updated to BS7671:2018 Amendment 2 (2022) and current industry requirements.

Module 1

Solar/PV

Learners will,

  • Know the key requirements for electric vehicle charging equipment (EVCE) installations.

  • Know and identify Equipment of, and differences between, the four charging modes, and Wireless Power Transfer types (WPT).

  • Understand the preparation for design and in7stallation of EVCE.

  • Be able to prepare to design and install EVCE.

  • Be able to install EVCE in Dwellings, Commercial and Industrial Locations.

  • Understand requirements for initial verification and handover of an EVCE installation.

  • Be able to conduct inspection and testing, and complete handover to client.

Battery Storage

Learners will,

  • Know the health and safety risks and safe systems of work associated with solar photovoltaic system installation work.

  • Know the requirements of the relevant regulations/ standards relating to practical installation, testing and commissioning activities for solar photovoltaic system installation work

  • Know the fundamental differences between AC and DC circuits within solar photovoltaic systems.

  • Know solar photovoltaic system protection techniques and components.

  • Be able to plan and prepare for the installation of a solar photovoltaic system.

  • Be able to inspect and test a new solar photovoltaic system installation.

  • Be able to handover and commission a new solar photovoltaic system installation.

  • Know the requirements for the routine inspection, service, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic system installations.

  • Know how to rectify and diagnose faults in solar photovoltaic systems.

Plumbing Renewables Bootcamp

Bootcamp is a comprehensive program designed to supercharge your expertise in Air Source Heat Pumps with all of the design and installation covered on the course. Over the course of 90 guided learning hours, we're committed to equipping you with the essential skills required.

But we don't stop at theory. Practical experience is at the heart of our bootcamp. You'll have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and dive into real-world scenarios, including the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding of air source heat pumps. Working as a group, you'll gain hands-on experience, ensuring that you're well-prepared for the challenges of the trade.

Learners will be qualified in the following.

Module 1: Basic electrical theory (mandatory)

Module 2: Heating controls and wiring.

Module 3: Fault finding techniques.

Our expanded offerings now encompass a comprehensive range of training courses for trades, including F Gas CAT I to IV , F Gas Pre learning , F Gas Renewal ,Oxy Fuel Brazing and many more.

F Gas I-IV

F-Gas course is for experienced refrigeration and air-conditioning or heat pump engineers who need to meet the legal requirements for working with Fluorinated Gases - F-Gases - and other ozone depleting substances.

This Level 3 regulated RQF qualification from LCL Awards covers industry competence for all F-Gas activities (category 1) and is the UK’s leading F-Gas qualification.

 

  • Category 1 certificate – to carry out all activities

  • Category 2 certificate – to install, maintain, service and recover refrigerant from systems containing less than 5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e)

  • Category 3 certificate – to recover refrigerant from systems that contain less than 3 kg of F gas

  • Category 4 certificate – to check equipment for leaks if you don’t break into the refrigeration circuit

Oxy Fuel Brazing

LCL Awards Level 3 Award in Oxy-Fuel Brazing within the RACHP Sector

 

Course description,

LCL-F3004 Understand and carry out “Oxy fuel” brazing techniques for RACHP systems

 

Course Background,

The safe use of “Oxy-Fuel” brazing equipment used for the installation, replacement or de-commissioning of RACHP equipment and components qualification is designed to meet the needs of the practicing engineer.

Pre F Gas Training

Introduction and familiarisation into Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (F-Gas)

 

Course Background/ Description

This 3 day F Gas pre course provides the training necessary to meet the entry level requirements (pre-requisites) for the F Gas Category 2 course and is therefore suited to candidates who do not have sufficient knowledge and/or experience of working with air conditioning or refrigeration

systems.

 

Any person who requires the minimum legal requirement to work on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including air conditioning and refrigeration engineers and technicians, all plant engineers, apprentices, personnel concerned with the recovery, charging or disposal of refrigerants and new comers into the industry.

 

F Gas Regulations training courses are designed for both experienced air-conditioning and refrigeration engineers and also candidates who are looking to cross train and gain qualifications in the air conditioning / refrigeration sector

F Gas Renewal

LCL Awards F Gas Regulation EC517-2014

( If your F Gas certificate is due to expire, you will need to renew the certificate before the expiry date to remain legally covered. Failure to upgrade before the expiry date will make it illegal for you to carry out work on air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pumps)

 

Course description,

This 3-day course is aimed at those who are renewing their CITB, BESA, LCL Awards Ltd F Gas certificate or for those requiring an update to their City & Guilds certificate if it was issued more than five years ago in order to cover the requirements of the new F-Gas Regulation 517/2014.

The course will cover changes to the original F Gas Regulation (EC 842/2006) which came into effect in January 2015 and additional requirements required from January 2017.

 

Course Background,

Bringing Air Conditioning, Refrigeration companies and engineers up to current standard as new requirements relating to leak checking, documentation and phase out dates of certain refrigerants are changing. This qualification is designed to meet the needs of the practicing engineer.
